The Expo scored with outstanding exhibitor satisfaction and second-highest visitor numbers in its history. The annual Expo is creating a buzz in the agricultural community within Zambia. It is the leading agricultural expo in sub-Saharan Africa and attracted this year 18,800 visitors, most of them farmers or stakeholders, from the Zambian agricultural sector.
AgriTech Expo Zambia took place from the 18 - 20 April 2024 and was spread over 85,000 square meters of exhibition space and offered both small and emerging farmers as well as large scale and commercial farmers a professional business platform where they experienced the latest offerings from world class suppliers of agriculture machinery. Day 1 was dedicated to commercial farmers and Day 2 attracted crowds of small scale and emerging farmers.
Honourable Ministers Reuben Mutolo Phiri of Agriculture and Honourable Minister Mike E. Mposha, of Water Development and Sanitation opened the Expo on Friday, 19th April together with chairman of the board of Farmers Expo, Mr Ashok Oza and many others.
Dr. Lars Huf, Deputy Managing Director of DLG International GmbH and Project Lead of AgriTech Expo Zambia, said: “All team members of AgriTech have worked intensively in the past months to make the field the best communication platform for farmers and suppliers from crop production, horticulture and livestock sectors for the special 10th Anniversary edition. We have received very good feedback from both exhibitors and visitors that we have delivered such a well-organised show despite the very challenging weather conditions in recent months. This would not have been possible without working hand in hand. I would like to thank everyone involved once again, as well as the visitors, some of whom travelled long distances to come to the show. A special thank you goes out to the GART team and all their staff who spent countless hours to raise the crops, irrigate and keep them weed free.”
The Expo consistently presents cutting-edge technology and machinery contributing to sustainable farming practices and agribusiness success. A jewel of the trade fair, which makes it so unique, are the 30 well-maintained live crop trials from top seed and crop protection companies as well as live machinery demos from 12 different suppliers directly in the field. Two new inclusions to the Show were an expanded drone zone with five exhibitors and the insurance and finance zone where farmers and stakeholders were able to inform themselves about the latest products from well-known brands and explore financing options. The Expo also included an irrigation zone, energy park, livestock zone, machinery & equipment demo area and a SME & Business zone.
New seed varieties, fertilizers, agrochemicals and crop protection was on showcase from many top industry suppliers, offering real time advice and guidance to farmers attending, along with many educational workshops and networking opportunities.
One of the biggest highlights was the newly designed German Pavilion which embedded 14 German exhibitors and their products in an environment that underscored the outstanding quality and performance of German products. In addition to the feature zones, AgriTech Expo Zambia continued to keep its international flair with more country pavilions from Zimbabwe and China. International suppliers from Czech Republic, South Africa, Mauritius, United Kingdom, Zimbabwe, Russia showcased their products and innovations from their part of the world tailored to the needs of the farmers in the region. Farmers also benefited from full expert run workshops on all three exhibition days of the trade fair. With a focus on small scale and emerging farmers each day had specific themes ranging from livestock production and organic farming, crop production and much more.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in the field next year!
